Simple and fun exercise for children and parents

Written by Akrobat author | Oct 5, 2021 7:15:00 AM

The modern way of life and the many digital devices are the reasons why children and their parents spend too much of their time in front of screens. Consequently, many of them don’t have the time or motivation to do exercise, which affects their health and general well-being.

But a human body was made to move. Regular physical activity and a balanced diet are the foundations for healthy living. Being physically active is the only way to balance out the increasingly widespread sedentary lifestyle.

What does the World Health Organization recommend?

In order to be healthy, the World Health Organization recommends that adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity or 75 minutes of high-intensity activity per week.

If walking is the activity of your choice, you should do it five times per week for at least 30 minutes; if you’re a runner, 25 minutes three times a week is enough. But best is if you do a combination of moderate and high-intensity activity, and don’t forget to add muscle-strengthening activity at least twice a week.

Physical activity is even more important when it comes to children. School-aged children should do 60 minutes of moderate to high-intensity activity per day, while preschool children should do as many as 180 minutes per day. In addition to regular physical activity, children and adolescents should also do muscle and bone-strengthening activity three times a week.

A simple physical activity that benefits your body

The main question is what physical activity is beneficial and in line with all the recommendations. It’s very important that the physical activity you choose is one you like and enjoy. It should also be simple enough not to deter you before you even start.

Trampolining is the perfect simple exercise that ticks all the boxes. You don’t need any experience; it’s suitable for people of all ages, for beginners as well as professionals. The movements are not determined by any concrete rules; you just make up your own as you jump. The only real rule is to have fun.

Trampolining is increasing in popularity among children and their parents since it’s not only a fun exercise, but it also has beneficial effects on the body:

  • It strengthens the cardiovascular system: trampolining strengthens your heart and lungs, improves your stamina, and burns a lot of calories.
  • It improves your posture: jumping on trampoline forces you to maintain your body’s position and keep your back straight.
  • It strengthens your bones: trampoline exercise strengthens bone density which prevents conditions like bone injury and osteoporosis.
  • It increases strength: when jumping correctly, you use your whole body and especially your leg muscles. This is an excellent exercise to increase strength, and it should be done twice a week by everyone, regardless of age.
  • It improves core strength: your core strength is of key importance for your health and your daily activities. A strong core helps you maintain good posture and protects you from injury.
  • It improves your balance: bouncing improves your body’s coordination and balance.

Great relaxation and fun

Last but not least, jumping on a trampoline is so much fun you’ll forget all your worries. It’s great relaxation and a great way to relieve stress. You’ll never get enough of it! It’s also a physical activity that parents and children can do together, regardless of their age.

Studies have found that 10 minutes
of trampolining is more effective than
a thirty-minute run.

Remember the WHO recommendations from the beginning? Trampolining meets all of them as long as you do it regularly.

Jumping on a trampoline is both effective as well as a simple and fun exercise for children and parents. You’ll have so much fun you’ll never want to quit. So what should your next step be? Start going to a trampoline park regularly or install a trampoline in your own garden where fun exercise will always be only one short jump away.
