*Airbags and foam cubes are an indispensable part of a modern Trampoline park. Learn about their key features and find out which of the two options is the better choice for your park.*

Choosing the perfect landing surface is crucial for all Trampoline park owners, as it not only affects the attractiveness of the offer but also [safety](https://blog.akrobat.com/en/why-building-a-trampoline-park-to-standards-is-so-important)and [maintenance](https://blog.akrobat.com/en/how-to-maintain-a-trampoline-park) costs. It thus makes perfect sense to consider whether to choose airbags or foam cubes as your landing surface.

## Foam cubes

Foam cubes are the most popular landing surface in Trampoline parks today.

[Foam cubes](https://www.akrobat.com/trampoline-parks/park-modules/foam-pit) are an integral part of the pits, which are still one of the most common landing surfaces in Trampoline parks. As the name suggests, these pits are filled with foam cubes that allow soft landing when jumping from trampolines or other modules, making them ideal for safely practicing the most daring feats.

Today, Trampoline park owners can choose foam cubes of different sizes, made of high-quality and extremely durable foam. The foam is soft enough to absorb any landing impact and ensure a comfortable and safe jumping experience.

Foam pits require regular cleaning and checking for wear and tear, during which all foam cubes should be removed from the pit, carefully inspected, and replaced with new ones if necessary. At this point, it should be noted that foam cubes eventually become more compact and less flexible with use, which reduces their ability to absorb shocks, and they should be replaced if worn out.

## Airbags

Airbags are innovative Trampoline park modules with a bright future.

The use of airbags to soften landings dates back to the 1960s, when they were used by stuntmen in action films. The technology was then applied in extreme sports such as skiing, snowboarding, and BMX, and some Trampoline parks have been using it since 2014.

[Airbags](https://www.akrobat.com/trampoline-parks/park-modules/airbag) are special cushions filled with air and are primarily intended for jumping from a trampoline or other module. In this way, they allow you to test your skills or new tricks before performing them on the trampoline.

Comparing airbags with foam cubes, the initial investment is higher as they’re also more technically demanding to install. However, airbags have a longer lifespan, and if you add to this the ease and lower cost of maintenance, then they are certainly worth considering. They only take a few minutes to clean and, as they’re inflated with air, their pressure level just needs to be checked regularly for safe use.

They thus enable not only the perfect landing but also a unique interactive experience.

## What to choose - airbags or foam cubes?

Both landing methods work great together!

Although airbags are often marketed as an alternative to foam cubes, it’s important to note that many Trampoline parks now feature both foam pits and airbags. It’s therefore difficult to answer the question of whether to choose airbags or foam cubes, as it’s much more important to offer as much variety as possible to your visitors.

Of course, foam pits are still the most widespread and affordable landing surface in Trampoline parks. But if you’re thinking of [offering something new to your visitors](https://blog.akrobat.com/en/digitalization-of-trampoline-parks) and the upfront cost is not a major issue, airbags can be a great choice. The variety of Trampoline park offerings has always been and will continue to be the biggest magnet for visitors. And the more attractions you offer, the more likely they are to come back. So foam cubes and airbags can work perfectly together!

Most importantly, whether you choose airbags or foam cubes, it’s essential [to put quality first.](https://blog.akrobat.com/en/quality-vs.-price-of-trampoline-park-equipment) Having been equipping all the biggest Trampoline parks in the world with airbags and foam cubes for many years, Akrobat can certainly help you make the right choice!
